I began my passion for photography in the summer of 2004 and I've been freelancing ever since for various publications in news and documentary. With my work I attempt to examine urban transformation and human strength when faced with hardship.
In 2006, I was nominated for the World Press master class. Then in January 2007 I joined World Picture News as a news and assignment photographer. I've also worked as a photo editor for a Turkish daily newspaper and produced four personal projects to date. In October 2009, I joined Zuma Press as a contract photographer. Other projects include assisting British photographer Olivia Arthur in 2006 for her project in Istanbul. And in 2007, assisting photographer Rena Effendi document the Baku-Tiblisi-Ceyhan pipeline project in Turkey. I've also assisted broadcast journalist Jody Sabral on a short film called Banished that was shot in the Crimea in the role of assistant-producer. The film portrayed the lives and hardships Crimean Tartars face as they return to their homeland after years of exile - Banished was aired on the investigative People and Power programme part of Aljazeera English documentary programming.
